The Digital Technology Meetings 2016 gives ANR the opportunity to confer awards on 4 of the most inventive projects in terms of scientific, technological or societal progress.

Objectives of the prizes

In 10 years, ANR has funded nearly 2000 research projects to mobilise French research networks to meet the major challenges of the digital society. More than 200 of these projects will be presenting their most significant scientific and technological advances during the Digital Technology Meetings. This event also gives ANR the opportunity to award prizes to 4 of the most inventive projects in terms of scientific, technological or societal progress. The ANR scientific panel awards the prizes on the basis of 5 selection criteria:

Digital Technology Grand Prize

  • Significance and originality of the problem
  • Risk-taking, exploratory nature
  • Quality of the scientific approach
  • Significance and impact of the results obtained
  • Quality of dissemination / Recognition by the community

Young Researcher Prize

  • Significance of the problem, originality of the scientific approach
  • Self-determination, integration in the ecosystem, collaborations
  • Outreach (participation in IPCs, review editorial committees, guest lecture, etc.)
  • Peer recognition (prizes, ERC, best paper awards, etc.)

Economic Impact Prize

  • Significance of the innovation (technological or otherwise: innovation of a product, service, organisation, commercialisation, insertion in the market, etc.)
  • Transfer to industry: creation of a product, innovative service, patent
  • Creation or potential creation of companies, activities and jobs
  • Potential for sustainable growth (improvement in productivity, improvement in the utilisation and effectiveness of natural resources, etc.)
  • Factual indicators of the overall impact of the project to date

Societal Impact Prize

  • Significance of the societal problem
  • Progress in resolving the problem
  • Creation of new possibilities of using digital technology (triggering further progress)
  • Impact on the environment, culture, health, education, daily life, etc.
  • Factual indicators of the overall impact of the project to date
